Born in Sevilla, Spain, Tania Alvarez immigrated to the United States with her family in 1983. After receiving her BFA in 2005 from Pratt Institute, she continued her studies in Barcelona, Spain, earning a Postgraduate Degree from Elisava School of Design in 2009.  Alvarez recently completed her MFA at the New York Academy of Art in 2017.

Currently residing in Queens, NY, her work has been shown in multiple group exhibitions in New York City including ‘Angry Women’, The Untitled Space, ‘Annual Summer Exhibition’, Matthew Flowers Gallery, ‘Pop Up Series 2: On & Off the Wall’, First Street Gallery,  ‘Take Home a Nude’, Sotheby's, ‘Little But Fierce’, Chashama, ‘Flights of Fancy’, Taller Boricua Gallery and ‘Art of the 5: Queens Represents’, The Interchurch Center Gallery.  

Tania’s work is currently on view at the Clinton Foundation in Harlem, NY and can also be found in private collections in New York, Massachusetts, France and Spain.
